When you come into work each morning, you never see people high-fiving each other because the power came on. Nobody sings the praises of the toilets flushing or the plumbing working. They just expect all those things to work. Like the air you breathe, you only notice when it isn’t there.

The same is true for compliance professionals. If you’re involved in security and compliance for your organization and you’re doing your job well, you probably don’t get a lot of high fives. No one comes in at the start of the day and slaps you on the back because your company didn’t get breached overnight.

The blood, sweat, and tears of your work largely may go unnoticed by the vast majority of people in your company. Professionals in the security and compliance space don’t get recognized for their hard work as often as they should.

But there are others who see you and appreciate you.

Thanks for Your Tireless Compliance Management Labors

At TCT, we have a great amount of respect for security and compliance professionals. No matter what your role is or how small your company, you have an enormous responsibility and a weighty task to fulfill. Your job is to ensure the safety and security of your organization — and, therefore, the protection of your company’s people, your customers, and your vendors.

This Labor Day, TCT is taking the opportunity to say “thank you” for your efforts.

Thank you for your painstaking attention to detail.

Thank you for the countless hours of overtime.

Thank you for untangling the rat’s nest of documentation and communication.

Thank you for wading into the chaos and putting order to it.

Your work is important, and it is noticed.

Equip Your Team for Compliance Success

A Salute to Compliance Consultants and Assessors

The same goes for Compliance Consultants and Assessors who faithfully serve their clients. Your efforts help clients to form a shield for their organizations.

The job of Consultants is often under appreciated. It’s challenging to get an organization through their first run of organized compliance and to keep them compliant. Doing your job involves pointing out shortcomings in the organization.

It’s a balancing act to guide your clients through compliance. One minute you’re coaxing and cajoling, the next you’re providing moral support. Next thing you know, you have to be a taskmaster or escalate issues up the chain of command.

Assessors have a tough job, too. Your task is to come in, get the work done quickly, and keep your firm profitable. Yet on many engagements, things take longer than expected. So it becomes an art form of navigating the organization through the assessment while trying to keep your firm running, getting what they need from the client.

Hats Off to Compliance Professionals Everywhere

This Labor Day, TCT recognizes the hard work of the men and women in the compliance industry. Your labor is tremendously meaningful and absolutely vital to the health of the organizations you help protect — as well as the people who depend on the security stance of these organizations.

I also want to take a moment to recognize the dedication of the men and women at TCT, whose dedication and hard work are noticed and appreciated every day. TCT could not do the good work we do without you.

Hats off to all of you in the security and compliance industry.
